Steampunk entered my life when attended an Abney Park concert at the Edison Bar in Los Angeles back in 2008. I was hooked by the stunning costumes and re-imagined technology.
Obtainium Works is an art car factory and home of the Neverwas Haul, the legendary three story Victorian House on wheels. The Works has built a dozen human, steam, and other powered contraptions. As crew, my wife and I have perfected the Rapid Deployment Beverage Delivery Service: able to serve High Tea or a proper Gin and Tonic in otherwise adverse conditions. Some of our adventures are documented in the Vintage Tomorrows project: the book is out, and a documentary is forthcoming.
I photographed many of the group’s adventures at Burning Man, Edward Gorey Ball, Nova Albion Steam Exhibition, and Maker Faire. My alter ego is Dr. Professor Samuel Tweed: gentleman adventurer and member of the Hibernian Academy of UnNatural Sciences. Katherine and I also got married on the Neverwas Haul in an epic Steampunk wedding.
